Pair of Finnish ‘Laila’ armchairs, model ‘238’, designed by Ilmari Lappalainen in 1948. Manufactured by Asko in Finland, 1950s. Recently reupholstered in Espresso sheepskin.

This pair of armchairs belongs to Ilmari Lappalainen’s notable ‘Laila’ series, a design celebrated by collectors even during its production era. The ‘Laila’ armchair, designed in 1948, holds a notable place in Finnish design history. The earliest original drawings are preserved in the Lahti City Museum as part of the Lappalainen Collection.
